Aterra was born from a love of exploration—of places, cultures, and the connections that make travel unforgettable.

Raised in New York with roots in Malaysia, Amanda Kam’s journey has always been driven by curiosity. At 16, she was selected as a youth ambassador for the U.S. State Department, representing the U.S. in China. She went on to advise luxury Italian brands in Milan, study Middle Eastern affairs in Israel, and build a global career in investment banking, public relations, and business operations—having earned a degree in economics from Columbia University. But it was travel that shaped her most.

By 27, she had journeyed solo across all seven continents and more than 70 countries—flying private over Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, jet skiing through French Polynesia, trekking glaciers in Patagonia, snowmobiling with reindeer herders in the Arctic, hiking the Himalayas, soaking in hidden onsens in Hokkaido, and kitesurfing in Cape Town.

But beyond the landscapes, it was the people—mothers in Huahine teaching her to cook rainbow fish, friends welcoming her into the Tapati Festival in Rapa Nui, athletes who taught her to windsurf, and brilliant minds debating philosophy over wine in Bora Bora—who made each journey unforgettable. She has shared meals in family homes, danced under desert skies, and been welcomed into places few ever see.
