Meet Amanda

Aterra was born from a love of discovery—of places, cultures, and the connections that make travel unforgettable.

Raised in New York with roots in Malaysia, Amanda Kam’s path has always been guided by curiosity. At 16, she was chosen as a U.S. youth ambassador in China. She later advised luxury Italian brands in Milan, studied Middle Eastern affairs in Israel, lived in Hong Kong while working in public relations, and built a global career in investment banking, communications, and business operations—after earning her degree in economics from Columbia University. Yet it was travel that shaped her most.

By age 27, Amanda had journeyed solo across all seven continents and 75 countries—flying private over Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, jet skiing through French Polynesia, trekking glaciers in Patagonia, snowmobiling with reindeer herders in the Arctic, hiking the Himalayas, soaking in hidden onsens in Hokkaido, and kitesurfing in Cape Town.

But the true magic came from people: mothers in Huahine teaching her to cook rainbow fish, locals welcoming her into Rapa Nui’s Tapati Festival, athletes guiding her first windsurf, and long conversations with brilliant minds under Bora Bora’s stars. She’s shared meals in family homes, danced beneath desert skies, and been welcomed into worlds few ever see.
